This little guy loves fishing! I think he would fish all day every day if school didn't get in his way. He also knows alot about fishing too. I bet he could grow up to be a professional fisherman! He was so much fun to work with and even had ideas of his own (which I love).
It was just a day out in the country with a boy, his horses, his dogs, and his fishing pole. You can't beat that...oh except for that pesky snake that tried to get into our photo shoot. Haha.
I can envision this being a huge canvas or gallery shadow mount hanging in his room!
Below is a sneak peek of a session with a brother and sister. The wind was blowing, the sun was shining, and it was a beautiful day. There's something beautiful about the wind blowing through children's hair and the sun shining sweetly on their skin. It makes you feel the innocence of childhood.
Have an inspired day!
I don't think there are a whole lot of plantations anymore which is sad...because the beauty you see is really breathtaking...all the green pastures...old homes...nostalgia...it's almost gone. Well there are still a few plantations left and I was lucky enough to photograph two cute cousins out at a family plantation. Upon entering you see towering green trees that arch over the dirt pathway...they beckon you to come in...I knew upon arriving this would be a fun session and it was.
The images taken here worked so well in color, black and white, and a muted-vintage tone. I do not find that all the time. Some environments work better in color and some work better in black and white. With this place...it all just "worked".
Okay onto the pictures...
Aren't these two so cute with their curly hair? They didn't mind hugging and loving on each other at all. I have quite a few of them sharing moments like this.
Doesn't this one of her with the purse look like the perfect greeting card?
Oh all that green, red, and blue just worked so well together. . .
As I said above...this place just worked so well for photographs...I could spend a whole day just taking pictures there.
Hope you enjoyed the "sneak peeks"! More to come later . . .
Have an inspired day!
I'm in love....a new favorite of mine of my son!! ;) Taken at the beach. It was a magical day.
I'll try to get back to really blogging soon. ;) I'm playing catch up right now.
I will not be taking phone calls or returning emails again until Friday, April 4th. Have An Inspired Day!
P.S. Check out the Spring Break Sale that is going on at Heartography.
My first spring session. It's finally been nice enough for outdoor sessions...which I LOVE. It's easier on the children and there's something magical about being outdoors and watching a child play in the colorful palette that nature provides.
It was still a bit cool on this day so she had to wear clothes to cover her up some. This was the second time I photographed this little beauty. She is another one of my clients who belong to the big family that I have been photographing for a couple of years. They are all dear to my heart.
She has some beautiful dark eyes and eye lashes.
And now for a word about textures. I have started adding textures to some of my client's images. The textures sometimes give an image an even more magical, vintage, romantic, fun feel. I of course still show images without the textures. It's all a matter of what you like. It's just become a thing that many photographer's do and while I do not always follow the crowd or the trends per se this is one that I rather enjoy.
Below are some images that I felt texture would work for and called for that "modern nostalgia" feel that I am drawn to (and it seems my clients do too).
Hope you enjoyed the sneak peek!

I thought I would share some images from the final assignment from the workshop. The assigment was the following: I want you to take all that you have learned about lighting, conversions, tones, textures, expressions, and compositions to complete the following assignment.
Photograph a person or person that inspires you. The key thing about this is I want you to photograph them in a way that inspires me or makes me "feel" the image. If it's your child...of course you will "feel" the image....it's important that you make me "feel" it as I have no connection to your child or children or whomever you photograph. No description of why you photographed this person. You can say who it is though. I want to be able to be inspired by it without the added words. Then after I have viewed it....I would like for you to then describe the image and the person and why you took the picture.
(They were also allowed to submit more than one image for the final assignment.)
They all deserve recognition for their hardwork and willingness to learn! It was a wonderful experience for me. I have been asked will I do another workshop, and the answer is..............probably.......but it will have to be next year during the months of Jan. & Feb.
